◆ Although your app fulfills all technical requirements, we feel that it meets only the bare minimum of what we look for in terms of a solid, cohesively-written application for acceptance at this time.
◆ Your abilities section is the strongest part of the app, in both writing, length and depth. We feel that this reflects a fixation on Thorin's abilities above and beyond his character and personality. In addition, his weaknesses and flaws were practically entirely absent from the app, which makes Thorin seem two-dimensional. Further emphasis on his innate greed, for example, would have been appreciated.
◆ The personality section is repetitive and shows only a superficial understanding of Thorin’s character, and the samples display a similarly shallow interpretation.
◆ Thorin's journey as a character, the growth he undertakes throughout the physical journey of The Hobbit, involves learning from his mistakes and overcoming prejudice, and we feel that throughout all sections of the app you fail to acknowledge his character arc.
◆ On that note, it is not clear whether Thorin is pulled primarily from the book or the movie, and we do not allow a combination of both. Given his canon-point, which would be after the end of the only released movie but quite early in the book, his development and potential for development should be acknowledged.
