MURALS

M U R A L S
Exploration of the Tranquility has uncovered several unusual and unsettling pieces of art painted on walls deep in the dark corridors. Though they never disappear, they do seem to move location, with new ones appearing occasionally.

■ Stored at /ares, this mural is always found on the floor. It is freely discoverable by characters.

■ Stored at /enyo, this mural is always found on the walls. It is freely discoverable by characters.

■ Stored at /aether, this mural is rarely found, and appears to have undergone some changes since it was first witnessed. The central figure at one point was entirely red, and had disappeared into the blackness until only the head was visible. At its most recent sighting, the figure was instead further emerged from the blackness.

MURALS WITH NO ARTWORK
■ A single full figure, blocky and harsh-lined. Stood firmly, it has a thin neck supporting a fanned array of nineteen heads with sharp red eyes. Witnessed a few times on exploration of the corridors, instances of this mural are now often found smeared or mostly scrubbed away. No new or fresh versions have been found.
■ A figure seemingly fallen, curled on its side, similar to ares but facing in the opposite direction. Only an outline, the figure has no details about its body or face. It is surrounded entirely by a ring of hands reaching towards it.
■ A large mural covering the entire ceiling of a huge, cathedral-sized room found deep in the ship. The mural depicts a repeating image of beasts hunting and slaughtering other people and creatures.
■ A large mural covering the entire ceiling of a huge room found deep in the ship. It seems to depict a vicious battlefield, but closer examination shows there are no sides drawn, with most of the figures ruthlessly attacking each other without discretion, while others appear only to be attempting to flee or defend themselves.
■ Small murals of hands, appearing individually or as large masses spaced closely together. The gestures represented by the hands can change. Beckoning, reaching, and threatening fists have all been witnessed at different times.
■ A large central face, mouth wide and gaping in a scream. Surrounded by a swirling mass of other barely distinguishable faces, a hand reaching in to cover the face's forehead.

Unless otherwise noted, many of the murals are made with "normal" home-brewed paints and pigments. Despite this, they cannot be scrubbed off or removed from the surfaces they're on, though samples can be taken for testing. They also smell - if characters lean in close enough to take a sniff - absolutely horrible. All murals do mean something, though what that something is is up to players to determine!

This page will be updated as more murals are discovered, and will be kept as a central resource for this particular aspect of ship life.
