EXPLORATION & SALVAGE.
E X P L O R A T I O N A N D S A L V A G E |
Looking to salvage tech from the ship? Want to organize a charting expedition out into the jungle? Then you've come to the right place! Read the information below and use the forms to submit a request for mod-generated information on your characters' exploration efforts. E X P L O R E ( T H E J U N G L E ) |
As a general activity, trips out into the jungle do not need mod input. If your character is venturing out to do some hunting or foraging, or heading down to the river, you need only work off the information available on the SETTING page and use your discretion. However, if your characters are venturing deeper into the jungle or down the cliff on a more concerted mission to explore, then this is the place for you. Only one jungle exploration will be granted per character per month. While exploration is the primary avenue by which the game will expand and progress, large plot reveals are not guaranteed as we will also have to keep in mind pacing and game adjustment. If your exploration does involve a plot reveal, you will be required to disseminate this to the rest of the game upon your characters' return. Please give us at least one week from the time of your request to your preferred date to write up the information for you. S A L V A G E ( T H E S H I P ) |
The wreckage of the Tranquility is extremely unstable, making expeditions inside to salvage technology or supplies very dangerous. At the moment, Medical is the only freely accessible area - any attempts to press in further than Medical must be submitted here. Due to the amount of damage which has been caused to the Tranquility's internal structure, your character knowing where they're going is a necessity to navigate the obstacles and blockages they are likely to encounter. Some areas will also need the nanite access granted by having signed up to that department while on board to enter or for the successful salvage of particular items. Activity in an area will also increase that area's instability; return trips will not be possible until it's had time to stabilize again. Only one salvage attempt will be granted per character per month, any one specific area of the ship can only be salvaged from once a month, and only one salvage attempt can happen at a time. Please give us at least one week from the time of your request to your preferred date to write up the information for you. NOTE Barring timing conflicts, your character can be involved in any one exploration attempt AND any one salvage attempt per month, but not two explorations or two salvages in a single month. |
Research
- Milagros can use her powers to examine the corpses. She will use her temporal powers (assuming they are less suppressed now) to determine when they were placed here. If possible, she'd also try to examine the manner of death, etc. with Vitakinesis. Whether or not the Vitakinesis works—
- Science efforts (Xenogen primarily) will be made to perform an autopsy on at least one of the corpses and see what there is to see. I'm not sure what equipment is available at the moment, or I'd be more detailed.
- Finally, scientific inquiry (but maybe also Vitakinesis!) will be applied to the glowing geometry patterns, to determine if it is bioluminescence or some other form of light energy production. If there is a source, they will want to find it as well! And should these investigations turn up no answer, we'll IC put out a call for more magic help.
Apart from these particular avenues, anything else you want to throw at us I'm sure we'd be happy for. Our characters might be smarter than us.Please let me know if you need anything else! Thanks.

First of all, apologies for our delay in response, and thanks for your patience!
1. Milagros' temporal powers will remain suppressed even post-crash, as all time-related abilities are negated across the board. As for her Vitakinesis and the still useable aspects of her ability, I have reviewed her powerset and would like more detail about how she intends to utilise her powers to uncover more information. If you or Milagros' player could let us know, we will get back to you quickly.
2. Science efforts will be able to determine that the bodies were human, based off visual investigation of the remaining bones. All skin and organs are decayed, which implies no attempts to preserve them were made (such as mummification). Cause of death is impossible to determine. Unfortunately, the tech required to do intensive research on genetic material and cause of death isn't available, but they will be able to determine through observation that these were not victims of diseases that might impact the integrity of the bones.
3. Science and magic will be able to determine that the glowing effect is produced by microscopic bio-luminescent organisms who seem to be attracted to warmth, producing a glow when they gather. They don't appear to be toxic or harmful. Nothing in the tomb indicates a deliberate source, and minor attempts at excavation won't turn up much either, although they are not found in the dirt anywhere above the level of the tomb. Samples collected from rock and earth in the immediate level and area will show the presence of this organisms. How they trigger movement and action in the door is not immediately clear or able to be determined with the available equipment.
Let me know if you have further questions, about these answers or if any further investigations continue!
I'm hitting all the things today
Just reviving item #1.
With regard to Mila's Vitakinesis, her player and I talked it over and were hoping she could (backdated to prior to her drop) use her powers to estimate time-of-death (and other factors in the death) based on microorganisms in the body. Living bacteria and other small critters that might have made use of the corpses might provide some type of clue! I'm not completely certain as to Mila's actual forensic/autopsy experience using Vitakinesis before, but I can follow-up inquiry with her player if that would be helpful.
Thanks!

Because the bacteria and other micro lifeforms aren't what Milagros would have been used to, being "alien" in nature, she would not have been able to make an effective gauge as to time-of-death or other related clues.
